Autot ja Viihde 2018 - 29th of September - Lahti, Finland - Yankee Car Show - Part 1/3 - Hot Rods

Autot ja Viihde is the last of the big car shows in the calendar and marks the end of the summer cruising season in Finland. This year show was divided into two parts, Yankee Car Show and X-treme Car Show, and occupied three halls of the Expo center of Lahti, which worked as a venue for the event. Cars from all over Scandinavia participated to the three day event. There was also a lot see outside where Hobbyist Car Park gathered a lot nice cars from nearby areas.

Billy Gibbons from ZZ-Top; Jimmy Shine, a well known fabricator, car builder and owner of Shine Speedshop, and Gene Winfield, legendary car customizer, were special guests for this year's event. They gave out two awards, which were designated by them. Gene also participated into a demonstration, which included chopping a car in front of live audience.

Check out rest of the event photos from links below:

PS: I visited MP-messut, a motorcycle expo, last Saturday and next Saturday I will go to Kustom Kulture Show. Stay tuned for pictures from those events later 😊

LinnaCruising 2018 - 11th of August - Hämeenlinna, Finland - Part 1/4 - Rods & trucks

Here's a photo set of hot rods, street rods and pickup trucks I encountered during my LinnaCruising visit. LinnaCruising is a three day event held at the Kantola event park in Hämeenlinna, Finland. Area was easy to access since it is close to the city center of Hämeenlinna. I ended up taking a morning train to the city and walking from the station to the event park.

Event park of Kantola is on the shore of a lake called Vanajavesi. Park itself is a big grass area with a big gravel parking lot. LinnaCruising turned 16 years old this summer and it was the first time it was organized in Kantola. From 2013 to 2017 the event was held in Ahvenisto Race Circuit and before that in Satulinna and Verkatehdas. I visited Ahvenisto the next weekend. Story of that visit to Historic Grand Race is also coming out later this month 😊

The event opened on Friday evening with a Drive-In movie and live music. Saturday morning started with a burnout competition. There were also two F2 and F4 Powerboat exhibitions at the near lake. The day ended with a cruising and live music. A swap meet was organized on Sunday before the event closed. This was my first visit to LinnaCruising and it was a very pleasant one. There were a lot to see and experience. Hopefully I get to visit it next year as well.

Remember to check out my other photos from the event as well (links below) 😎

Yankee and X-treme Car Show Lahti October 2016 - Part 1 of 6 - American cars from 1920s, 30s and 40s

Last week end I made a 510 km (316 miles) long trip from Oulu to Lahti to visit one of the biggest annual Finnish car shows. While attending to the event I took lots of pictures. I decided to divide them to six different parts. Due to the amount of people attending the show it was sometimes difficult to find a suitable moment to take pictures of the most interesting vehicles. Here are photos of 1920s, 30s and 40s American cars displayed at the event. Take a look!
